United Airlines restores seasonal connection between the Algarve and Newark, reinforcing transatlantic demand
Direct flights between the Algarve and New York are back in operation for the summer season as United Airlines resumes its seasonal service between Faro and the Newark Liberty International Airport.
The airline is operating four flights a week from Faro until mid-September, restoring a key transatlantic link between the Algarve and the United States via the New York area hub.
At the same time, direct flights between Funchal in Madeira and Newark have also restarted, with ANA – Aeroportos de Portugal.
According to airport operator ANA|VINCI Airports, both routes reinforce Faro and Funchal’s position in the transatlantic market at a time when demand from North American travellers continues to grow.
The airline also noted that the longer Madeira schedule will increase available seats by 19% for the summer.
Antonio de Toro, United Airlines regional sales manager for Portugal and Spain, said passengers flying from Faro and Funchal will have access to more than 80 onward destinations across the Americas through the airline’s Newark hub.
