The Água Hotels Group has revealed plans for a new hotel between Parchal and Ferragudo, set near the Arade Congress Centre reopening in 2025
The Água Hotels Group has announced plans to construct a four-star hotel between Parchal and Ferragudo, near the Arade Congress Centre, which is also set for a revamp by the municipality of Lagoa.
With the two announced plans for the area between Parchal and Ferragudo, this will mark a significant improvement to the area, which has also seen the construction of the new Continente supermarket and a McDonalds, as well as the ongoing development of an urban park.
The new hotel will revitalise an area that is currently rundown and abandoned, transforming it into a high-quality reference point in the municipality of Lagoa.
Scheduled to open in 2027, the new hotel will have a total investment of €20 million, and construction is expected to start in 2025.
The group will preserve the existing former fish canning factory building, which will house the reception, bar, and restaurant. A new building will be constructed to the east of the main structure, featuring 169 rooms, including five suites.
There will also be an open central courtyard with gardens and a pool, and additional facilities will include a spa, gym, and indoor parking.
According to Mário Guerreiro, Água Hotels Group administrator, the goal is to “revitalise an area that is currently rundown and abandoned” and to “transform it into a high-quality reference point for the municipality of Lagoa in a historically significant area of the Algarve”, similarly to what the group did by the Arade River in Parchal with the Água Hotels Riverside.
“We are confident that our new hotel in Ferragudo will be a success and will significantly contribute to the local economy,” shared Bruno Canhoto, the group’s commercial director. “Its strategic location, proximity to the congress centre, and the expansion of our hotel offerings are key factors for this project.”
As for the rundown Arade Congress Centre in Parchal, it will be renamed as Lagoa Congress Centre (Centro de Congressos de Lagoa), and will undergo a €1.6 million revamp, scheduled to open in July 2025.
The Congress Centre was purchased by the local council at the end of 2022, after being abandoned for several years and being subject to various vandalism acts over the years.
