A four-course dinner and an interactive workshop create a flavour-packed journey into the versatility of chocolate
For chocolate lovers, W Algarve in Albufeira is hosting a two-day “Chocolate Odyssey” on October 9 (Thursday) and 10 (Friday).
The event brings together Francisco Siopa, executive pastry chef at Penha Longa Resort, and Andrea Ciuccio, executive chef of W Algarve, for a programme promising a unique, top-level gastronomic experience.

The two-day celebration is described by Siopa as a “gastronomic manifesto that celebrates the authenticity and versatility of cocoa”. For Ciuccio, the collaboration is a chance to showcase “an ingredient with infinite versatility, capable of awakening memories and creating new emotions”.
Day one opens with The Alchemy of Chocolate – a four-course dinner at the hotel’s Market Kitchen restaurant, crafted and served by both chefs. The menu includes two canapés, an amuse-bouche, a welcome drink and wine pairings, with a vegetarian option available. Dishes will be prepared live in front of guests, adding a multisensory element to the evening. The experience ends with signature chocolate-inspired cocktails. Tickets are priced at €90 per person.
On day two, The Roots of Cocoa takes place from 3pm to 5pm at Vino, the hotel’s wine-tasting space. Guests will join a workshop led by Siopa, exploring the chocolate journey from bean to bar. Participants will create their own artisanal pieces before enjoying a guided tasting of chocolates paired with selected wines, enhanced by storytelling from the hotel’s resident sommelier. Tickets for this session are €45 per person.
