New developments in Vilamoura and Lagos alongside sustainability recognition and record year for Web Summit in Portugal 

Vale do Lobo awarded ESG Engaged seal 

Luxury resort Vale do Lobo has been awarded the ESG Engaged seal, granted by national tourism authority Turismo de Portugal, which recognises the resort’s commitment to monitoring and reducing its environmental impact, as well as to integrating sustainable practices across its entire operation.  

The ESG Engaged seal highlights companies’ commitment to integrating environmental, social, and governance measures across their operations.  

It is part of the Tourism 360° Companies Programme (PET 360°), which assesses businesses through ESG questionnaires, reports on emissions, biodiversity and climate risks, as well as the FOREST tool – Organisational and Sustainability Reporting Tool for Tourism. 

Web Summit 2025 revenue tops €100 million 

Web Summit generated more than €100 million in revenue in November last year, whilst bringing in an estimated €300 million for Lisbon in terms of hotel bookings and for restaurants, bars, shops, tourist attractions and transport receipts.

Web Summit 2025 in Lisbon saw record participation with 71,386 attendees from 157 countries, including 2,725 start-ups (with 40% women-founded) and 1,857 investors, marking a “significant year for global tech collaboration and innovation”.  

This year’s Web Summit will take place from November 9 to 12. 

Latest Vilamoura residential project revealed 

Vilamoura has unveiled Botanica, its latest residential development, promising a rare mix of urban convenience and nature-led living.  

Designed by renowned architect Samuel Torres de Carvalho, Botanica will feature 55 apartments, ranging from two- to four-bedroom units.  

Communal gardens and green spaces further reinforce the project’s natural focus.
