From globally recognised restaurants to new openings and upcoming food events, there’s plenty to explore

Asian flavours in Faro

Bringing South Western Asian influences to Faro, the Green Buddha opened its doors in the city this summer with a menu bursting with flavour.

This is Laura and Alex Boullain’s second restaurant in the region, the first of which opened in Via Real de Santo António in 2018 following the couple’s extensive travels through Asia.

In a setting designed to feel like a “small oasis”, they serve staple Asian dishes such as Pad Thai (€15.90) from Bangkok, Chicken Satay skewers (€14.90), marinated in coconut milk and turmeric, served with aromatic basmati rice, and shrimp, chicken or tofu Thai Rice (€15.90) with pineapple, vegetables, and sesame seeds.

Global recognition for A Ver Tavira

Renowned for bringing the authentic flavours of the Algarve to the table under the guidance of chef Luís Brito, A Ver Tavira has been awarded the Global Recognition Award 2025 for its achievements in the world of fine dining.

Holding one Michelin star, the restaurant is already celebrated for its excellence, quality, innovation, and commitment to sustainable service.

With this new distinction, it once again stands out among Portugal’s most prestigious establishments, with influence and recognition both nationally and internationally.

East meets West

The newly opened KAN.JO restaurant, at Algarve Marriott Salgados Golf Resort & Spa, offers a culinary journey celebrating Oriental cuisine, bringing together Japan, China and Korea with Portugal.

The menu features intriguing Chef’s Signature dishes such as Sautéed Squid, Miso-Fried Aubergine, and Teppanyaki Veal Bitoque.

The drinks list is equally enticing, with an array of excellent cocktails (both with and without alcohol), kombucha, locally brewed craft beers, Japanese beverages, sangrias, wines and sparkling wines.

To finish, there is Miso Mousse or Namelaka Chocolate, accompanied by a fine selection of sake and premium spirits.

Eat, Drink and Stay

Gourmets and wine lovers are invited to “Eat, Drink and Stay” in the Algarve this Autumn with the return of Entre Pratos e Vinhos (Between Dishes and Wines).

Promoted by the Algarve’s Wine Association, from October 15 to November 30, the annual event pairs the region’s renowned wines with delicious dishes.

Now in its third edition, Entre Pratos e Vinhos puts a spotlight on Algarve wines in collaboration with the region’s restaurants and accommodation units during a period considered the low season.

Participating establishments, each offering a unique pairing, can be found on the Vinhos do Algarve website.
