Bon Bon voyage: Unique gastronomic experiences aboard a yacht

The Michelin-starred Bon Bon restaurant has cast off the ropes and offers unique gastronomic experiences aboard a luxury yacht

Boarding a luxurious yacht for a gastronomic experience at sea, supported by the savoir-faire of a Michelin-starred restaurant is now a real possibility. As of July 2019, guests can enjoy this experience all year round in the Algarve. The adventure begins at the Portimão Marina, where the Luma is docked. Built in 2016, this 21m-long Sunseeker Manhattan 65 flies under the Belgian flag and can accommodate up to 12 people, with four rooms and a kitchen. Depending on their wishes, clients can rent the yacht for a few hours, a full day or even a full week, for romantic dinners, parties with friends, to enjoy a sunset and much more.

The big news is that, additionally, guests can also request to have a chef on-board for a gourmet catering service. The menus are made “for clients and according to specific tastes,” explains Louis Anjos, who has led the kitchen at Bon Bon, in Carvoeiro, since February 2018. The menus are based on three themes: barbecue and seafood, cataplana experience or a set menu, with signature dishes from the restaurant.

From waking up or falling asleep rocked by the waves and the peace of the ocean to enjoying the stunning landscapes of the Algarve coastline and relishing in gourmet meals, the project was designed for “clients seeking a unique experience, with discretion, peace and quiet, away from the crowds”, says Nuno Diogo, restaurateur and manager at Bon Bon. “This is yet another innovative complement to our restaurant.” The idea is to “provide a distinctive service which hasn’t been done before” in the Algarve, and “promote this destination even more” through unique and quality experiences.

According to Louis Anjos, the yacht “has all the conditions to perform on a par with the excellent service expected of a restaurant with a Michelin star,” although some of the ingredients must be prepared beforehand, for logistical reasons. Still, the main goal is to be able to “provide a true Bon Bon experience on-board.” For the chef, this is just one of the many reasons that make him feel so proud to be a part of this renowned restaurant.

“This new gastronomic adventure on a yacht is an innovative addition. It’s a unique initiative, different from the existing offer in gastronomic tourism of haute cuisine, now also available at sea.”
