Algarve, Lisbon, Porto, Madeira, and Alentejo shine at the World Travel Awards

Portugal was once again awarded the top accolade in the global tourism scene, at the European gala of the World Travel Awards, held on Wednesday, October 22, in Sardinia, Italy.

The country walked away with 28 distinctions, including Europe’s Leading Destination 2025 at the ‘Oscars’ of Tourism.

Among the standout winners were Lisbon, named Europe’s Leading City Break Destination; Porto, which claimed Europe’s Leading City Destination; and Madeira, once again crowned Europe’s Leading Island Destination.

The Alentejo’s Dark Sky Alqueva project also shone brightly, earning two major honours: Europe’s Leading Tourist Attraction and Europe’s Responsible Tourism Award.

Meanwhile, the Algarve’s Dunas Douradas Beach Club was named Europe’s Leading Resort Villas, and Aquashow was honoured with the title of Europe’s Leading Water Park.
