From Mediterranean beachside dishes to theatrical dining and Fado-inspired cuisine

Monaco vibes in Quarteira

Founded by Monaco restaurateur Samy Sass, Cabana Sass has opened at Praia do Almargem, in Quarteira.

Bringing Mediterranean style to the Algarve coast, this new establishment abounds with natural textures, in an earthy, relaxing colour palette, complemented by a groovy playlist.

Its menu is concise and emphasises fresh, local, and ethically sourced ingredients, with dishes that highlight the connection between sea and land.

Options include grilled shishito peppers (€7), roasted cauliflower with tahini and smoked peppers (€22), fried squid with creamy truffle and yuzu sauce (€28), crispy Aburi tuna with smoked mayonnaise (€22), grilled red prawns (€48), and a lobster sandwich (€29).

The portions are intended for sharing, ideal for a long lunch with friends.

A gastronomic performance

A stone’s throw from Portimão’s TEMPO, a unique kind of performance is making its mark on the city.

Open since March 2025, DUOO is the creation of chefs Leandro Silva and Catarina Monteiro, a vibrant duo both in the kitchen and in life.

Together, they invite 12 guests to experience a combination of gastronomy and theatrical performance in a stylish and cosy setting.

The menus they offer (tasting or à la carte) are based on seasonal ingredients. Starters include dishes such as cured sardine with tomato and stracciatella cheese (€18) and smoked horse mackerel with ponzu sauce and cucumber (€17.50), whilst main courses feature fish (€26.50) and meat of the day (€28.50), delivering a memorable gastronomic experience.

From grandma’s cookbook

In Silves, Portuguese gastronomy comes together with musical tradition, serving petiscos to the sound of Fado.

The new restaurant Casa da Dona São showcases the talent of chef Apolino Mendes, who has worked in Michelin-starred kitchens such as José Avillez’s Belcanto.

The inspiration for opening this space comes from genuine place: a recipe book left to him by his grandmother Conceição, complete with her handwritten notes.

In her honour, ‘Lino’, as the chef is known, created the project with his wife, Raquel Marrachinho. Over the course of his career, the chef has worked as first commis at Vila Vita Parc’s Atlântico restaurant, maître d’ and head of the kitchen for the Details Hotels & Resorts group, and also worked as primary at Salmora – Live Kitchen & Bar in Vilamoura.
