The festival will showcase some of the Algarve’s most renowned wineries
Set in the quiet inland village of Nave do Barão, just 5km from Salir, a place with winemaking roots dating back to the 13th century, the annual Nave do Barão Wine Festival returns on May 9.
Organised by Associação Os Barões, the event marks its 10th edition this year, with free entry and a relaxed atmosphere.
Visitors can expect a strong line-up of Algarve producers, including Adega do Cantor, Quinta da Tôr, Quinta do Canhoto, Quinta da Malaca, Sul Composto, Vinhas de Nexe, Catuna e Silva and Al-Mudd Wines, alongside local winegrowers presenting their own homemade labels.
Wine tasting is a central part of the day, with selections from participating producers as well as entries from the Loulé Wine Contest, which includes wines crafted in Nave do Barão itself.
The festival will also have a handicraft and regional gastronomy fair, offering a broader taste of the Algarve’s traditions. Entertainment throughout the afternoon will include performances by the Serra do Caldeirão ethnographic dance group, traditional music ensemble D’Abalada, and accordionist Afonso Coelho.
The festival runs from 12.30pm until after 7pm.
