Springs launches at The Els Club

A new luxury development, Springs – At The Els Club, has been launched in Vilamoura, comprising 78 contemporary residences, including villas and townhouses

Set alongside the Ernie Els-designed golf course, the project combines modern architecture with a strong connection to its surroundings. Designed as a five-star resort, it offers premium services such as concierge, 24-hour security, and wellness and leisure facilities.

The development emphasises privacy, sustainability and functional design, targeting both residents and international buyers seeking a high-end lifestyle in the Algarve.

Domes Resorts takes over management of Cascade

Domes Resorts has taken over the management of Cascade Wellness Resort, a five-star property in Lagos, marking its second hotel in Portugal.

Located on the cliffs of Ponta da Piedade, the 38-hectare resort features 164 units, multiple pools, a spa, sports facilities and four dining venues.

Owned by Hotel Investment Partners, the property strengthens Domes’ expansion into key Mediterranean destinations through strategic partnerships.

Portugal among Europe’s leading branded residences markets

Portugal ranks third in Europe for branded residences, according to Savills’ Branded Residences Europe 2026 report, with 33 completed projects and 18 more in development

Europe is now the world’s third most established branded residential region, with the number of projects expected to surpass 300 by 2032.

The Algarve is highlighted as part of a growing shift towards resort-based developments, projected to account for 65% of total branded residences supply by 2032.

Cruises generate millions for Portugal

Cruise tourism generated €940 million for the country in 2025, supporting around 9,800 jobs, according to the Cruise Lines International Association (CLIA).

The sector also recorded a 7.3% increase in Portuguese passengers, with around 80,000 people choosing cruise holidays last year.

Across Europe, cruise tourism attracted 9 million passengers, with the Mediterranean remaining the most popular destination.

CLIA says the industry continues to benefit local economies, noting that most passengers stay overnight in port cities and many later return to destinations first discovered through cruises.
